We sat down with Eric Hausler, pastor of Christ the King OPC in Naples, FL to talk about a wide range of topics related to outreach and evangelism. From how to develop relationships to how to serve and love people with a view to displaying and speaking the gospel into their lives.
We are excited about this interview. It is filled with stimulating and actionable thoughts and ideas. Many people in the OPC recognize Eric’s gifts in these areas. We will be releasing the interview in smaller parts. Give Part 1 a watch and then a couple of questions to think about below:
Questions for Thought or Discussion:
1) Eric mentions two things in particular that are the starting points for developing a culture of evangelism? Did you catch the first one? Was it surprising that he listed that as the first place to start?
2) Eric mentions how going overseas can have a significant impact on how we live with regard to evangelism here. What do you think of the reasons he gives for that? (i.e. we see the blessing of our culture AND we are outside our comfort zone and more free to talk about the things of God in that setting since people don’t know us)
3) Do you think about your encounters with people as “divine appointments?” How would that change an interaction you had in the past couple days? Have you ever taken a week and written down all the “divine appointments” you had and thought about how you could use them on a path to making a connection that may lead to gospel witness? Maybe do the exercise of making a list with a friend or group and discuss it together.
